Amazing race party game

Seniors walking around for exercise and people shopping of course. After the players figure out the destination, the witness can give them the challenge details. For the mall challenges I chose three funny challenges that the team had to complete at the mall before receiving their next clue.

They had to take a picture of the players completing each challenge. The challenge details read:. After the team has completed their challenge they will be hit with a road block. The witness will pull out the roadblock challenge which reads:. One person from your team must enter the American Eagle store and sing the National Anthem to the store clerk. Your team can decide among yourselves who will do it. After all three tasks and the road block challenge have been completed the players can receive their next clue riddle.

After they solve the clue which is a local playground the witness can give them the challenge details which read:.

Take a trip to memory lane, it is time to PLAY! Complete all of these fun playground challenges to receive your next clue! The answer to this riddle is a local Japanese restaurant. Once seated, the witness can pass the players their challenge details which read:. Get ready to set your taste buds a tingle. Choose one of the following and split it up so that everyone gets to try a bit. Choose between: ika frita fried squid , chuka seaweed salad or kappamaki cucumber roll.

Once they are finished and everyone has eaten their share your team will receive the next riddle. After the players have completed all the challenge task head back to the car to get your next clue! You are on your way to winning this race. From two challenges you must choose one.

Ok players, here are the two challenges, remember you only have to complete one. You also have the option of changing your mind at any point and switching challenges. Here are your options:. I stood in awe as attempt after attempt these kids were scoring worse than I had. It did make this roadblock kind of a bottleneck. If I had to do it again I would require a lower score, and I would have let any team that was waiting take a turn if the team in front of them failed to pass the challenge.

I did not, however, take the breeze into consideration. Even though we only had a little breeze that day, it was enough to cause a serious problem for the girls. But those clever kiddos found a solution. Each team was divided in two, with some girls creating a windshield with their bodies while the others stacked the cans or the cards. One extra clever team chose to stack the cards in the grass, making it far easier to guarantee that they stayed put. After running to the park and finding the clue box the girls had to count various things around the park.

Finally, they had to count the number of tables in the park and the number of dog poop bag dispensers. Each of those tasks was wonderfully tougher than it sounds. My husband and I read and re-read and re-re-re-read that sign before we were confident of the answer.

And some dastardly park designer conveniently placed one of the bag dispensers behind a tree. This one was fun. We had each team make a smoothie with a variety of ingredients without telling them who would have to drink it. I set out all kinds of ingredients and a basic recipe they had to follow including ice, 1 cup of milk, and at least 5 ingredients.

And of course, I had another mom in the kitchen making sure everything went smoothie-ly. We evenly marked glasses so each smoothie would be exactly the same volume to make it fair at the end. We had one team dominate the circuit and they won Round 1 decisively.

We then had a snack break waiting for all of the teams to come back. Then we explained the last two challenges to the teams.

They were simple and the first team to finish them was to run to the nearby Pit Stop mat. If the team knew they had made a yummy smoothie and could recognize it, they could choose it if it was still available. If not, they were stuck with a smoothie made by a different team. The goal had been to be a bit vague about who would end up drinking the smoothies in the hope that a few teams would make perfectly delicious ones and a few might make a ketchup, pickle and corn syrup special.

Unfortunately, all the teams used palatable combinations of ingredients and no one had to drink anything too gross. We placed a bucket full of water balloons for each team at one end of our yard and an empty bucket on the other end. The goal was for each team to place 10 water balloons in the empty bucket but they could only do it with the balloon tucked between their backs.

So two girls would go back to back, place a water balloon in between, interlock their arms, and then carefully walk to the empty bucket where they had to gently drop the balloon without popping it. And as expected, all the teams stopped once a winner was announced, everyone picked up a water balloon and immediately our backyard descended into mayhem. It was awesome. They scurried about so excitedly and headed to the location where their first task was. Don't use your other hand!

If the ball falls off, start over. There was a big circular drive at the campsite, but you could have your kids walk any marked distance you can manage. This task was much easier for the kids who took their time and didn't get too excited. A few of the younger ones kept dropping the golf ball and had to start over, but they soon figured it out. Eat the entire contents of each cup you pick up. Pick up one cup at a time! This was my favorite task by far. I purchased some inexpensive paper portion cups and set them out all over the picnic table.

This was a Road Block task, so only one kid from each team could compete. The players had to keep emptying and eating! Some found it within a few guesses, and others took quite a while.

If you're worried about sweets, you could easily do this with Cheerios instead. Write your number below and show it to the judge. Okay, you probably don't have a stone fire pit wherever you are playing your race, but you could easily adapt this clue to count anything nearby. Our kids had no trouble counting the stones and getting it right -- perhaps I should have picked something a little more difficult. What surprised me the most about this task was leaning that many of the kids I know don't actually like Jell-O.

I would never have guessed such a thing possible, but the faces while they forced themselves to eat it really cracked us up. Even Little Jo dislikes Jell-O, but she and all the other kids pushed through and ate what they had to to continue in the race. I picked up some piece puzzles from the dollar store and set them on tables for the kids to assemble.

We saved this task for last because it had the potential to get very messy. As is typical with a Detour task, the kids got to choose between two different tasks to complete. The first choice was to stack soda cans, and only the older kids chose this option.

The younger kids immediately went for the option to shake and spray soda on each other. What a riot! Visit our whole collection of The Amazing Race party ideas to make your event as authentic as you can. To make your final pit stop more authentic, why not decorate it with a Travelocity Gnome and some international flags?

You might also want to hand out Amazing Race T-shirts to the winners! I wanted to thank you for making the clue templates available. I loved the button idea and the envelopes. I just celebrated my sons 16th birthday with a group of 8 teenagers and had a 16th Birthday Amazing Race at Epcot.

My unlce used this tamplete for his 40th birthday and it was heaps fun. I've only seen the show a few times and don't know all the ins and outs. Could you please explain the purpose of the "Roadblock" and "Detour" challenges as opposed to the normal challenges? Hi Wendy! A "Roadblock" challenge is one that must be completed by only one person on the team. A "Detour" challenge is one where the teams have a choice between two different tasks to complete.

The Amazing Race is a really fun show, and is a great birthday party idea. You should definitely try to catch a few episodes before planning a party, though Thank you so much for sharing this, Chica. It's very generous. I really want to do this for my stepdaughter's 12th birthday in July.

I've already run it by her and she's excited. It should be fun! Thank you so much for all ideas and for making all your templets available. We have organized an Amazing Race in a small town in Sweden for our friends and neighbours two years in a row and are now making plans for our third.

I picked up some great ideas from you!
